The pavilion at Dines Rd., known to the owners as the Black Rose Tavern, is for entertaining friends and family. The timbers, harvested on site, form a 3 bent structure with locally quaried stone shaping the cooking hearth, bread oven and chimney. Opening in versatile ways, the configuration responds to varied seasonal conditions from its winterized closure to opening three sides plus for summer events. The design is inspired by Norse traditional building. Details feature the owner’s blacksmithing work and the craftsmanship of the Amish timber framers.
